Working in residency with the Art Gallery of Ballarat Artlink LEAP project 2011. This project was designed to increase the ongoinging participation in the arts and the ggallery itself to children and their families in the area. My response was to defy the golden rules preached to the children within the gallery and work with them to create an enduring work of art that... ...they CAN touch and interact with ...they CAN talk excitedly about, and interact with one another ...they no longer need to sit on the floor when learning about the works of art around them ...they can revisit the gallery over coming years with friends, family and perhaps one day children of their own... and find a bit of themselves within the gallery walls The gallery plans to tour the finished 2.5meter diameter beanbag around the regional schools and towns that have contributed to its making. PLease contact the Art Gallery of Ballarat or te artist herself if you would like the beanbag to visit your area or if you would like your school involved in its construction workshops. |
